Auckland, Last Night.
A notification from Wellington announces that on and after the 19th inst , ,the, Auckland Cattle district will be declared free from inspection.
Political. Messrs Hamlin and Harris announce a i series of meetings of their constituents.
Oity Account. The Corporation has accepted the National Bank tender for the city account.
Educational Conference. The School Committee Conference and representations from meeting of the Board of Education to-day had a long conference, at which various points of difference were settled.
Accidents by Fires. A report of three fires has been received from the , Sopth to-day. They werp : Grangers store, Fort - street Dunedin, which was totally destroyed ; loss, £1000. , • At Wanganui a fird in the postoffice did £1000 damage and at Ashburton, Watts' Temerance Hotel was burnt; loss, £1000.
