THE WHATAWHATA ROAD,

TO TUB EDITOR. Siß, — In your issue of the 24th it appears that a party is prepared to make the new line of road between Hamilton and Whatawhata available for "wheeled traffic, and keep it in repair for six months for a sum of £350, and in your leader of the 2Gth it is said that time will be given for payment. If the party would leave a specification at your office of what is proposed to be done for the money, I fancy terms may be made with the two Boards interested, namely, the Newcastle and Hamilton, who could not object to give the guarantee, inasmuch as long beforo the money became due a Government grant will be obtained by the Member for Waipa to complete this, which is a main road to all intents and purposes. As there is to be a meeting here on Saturday next in reference to the opening of the bridge, it would not be a bad opportunity for the party prepared to undertake this work j to make it his business to be over, and as, most likely, members of the two Boards referred to will be here that day, the whole thing could be settled, and the work could be proceeded with during the present fine weather, a very essential item, : I imagine, in the undertaking. — I am, &0., Roto Kauki. Whatawhata, March 29, 1881.
