MANGAPIKO HIGHWAY BOARD.

A.T the ordinary meeting of the above District Board, held on Saturday, March 26th, there were present — Messrs Mackay, Higginson, Tisdall, and Ligertwood, and the following business was transacted.—The minutes of last meeting and the monthly correspondence were read and approved. — In reply to letters received, the Secretary was directed to write to the Tuhikaramea District Board, declining to acknowledge any liability m the bridge leading to Mr Williamsons property ; and to Mr Taylor, requesting him to re-consider the question of buying the roads closed in his farm, there being persons desirous of purchasing same, if the opportunity is given of a public auction. — Accounts amounting to £55 14s were passed for payment, Messrs Higginson and. Tisd&ll objecting to the payment of any rent. Tenders were received for supplying gravel from McCallum at £25 ; Roche, £23; Meredith, £20 15s, the last named being accepted. — Tenders were also received for earthworks near Messrs Jones' and Gregory's farm, viz. : Kerr, £11 10s; McCallum, £9; Breech and Giles, £9. The last tender was accepted. The Secretary was directed to give Mr Buckland instructions for offering lease of lands for non-payment of rates, the time of lease to be an alternative of five, ten, or fourteen years. — This concluded the business, and the Board adjourned till next meeting day.
