HAMILTON WEST SCHOOL DISTRICT.

The annual meeting of the householders cf this district was held at the school last evening. There were about 16 householders present, and the ohnir was occupied by Mr Peat. The Secretary read the balance -sheet, •which was adopted, on the motion of Mr Gaudni, seconded ■ by Mr McVherson. From this it appeared .that tho total income for the year )>ad been £32 4s, and the expenditure to £34 4s 6d, made up as follows :— Cleaning, &c, £18 3« ; fuel, £t 17s; furniture, £5 2a;' special grant, £2 4s 6d; printing and advertising, £2 lls; sundries £± 7s, leaving a debit balauce of £2 Os 6d duo the Treasurer. The Chairman of the outgoing committee (Mr Gwynne) reported ' that the sohool was in a flourishing condition. It had been well attended during the past year, and great credit was due to the teachers for the interest they had taken in their work. The improvement in the pupils had been very maiked, and he trusted to Bee the same progress made during the ensuing year. The meeting then proceeded to the election of a new committee. Tho Chairman considered that, as the retiring committee had done such good work, they could not do better than reelect them, Mr McPherson was in. favour of having new blood in the committee. Eight householders were taominated, and, on a ballot being taken, the following were elected members of the committee for the ensuing 1 year : — Messrs R. Bradley, O'Neill, Gaudm, Gwynne, Knox, Yon Stunner, and G, Edgecurabe. A vote of thanks having been passed to the chair, the meeting terminated.

Committee Meeting. A meeting of the newly-elected committee was held immpdiutely after the above. Present : All the members. Og tho motion of Mr Kuox, Mr Gwynne was re-elected cliairmau, and on the motion of Mr O'Neill, Air Knox honorary secretary. It whs resolved that the meetings of the comnrittea be held at the offices of Messrs Wlutdkcc uud Slieehan, ou the first Wednesday in every month, at 4 o'clock p m.
