MOONLIGHT EXC URSION.

Ik order to dear off the debt still remaining unpaid on the instruments of the Hamilton Light Infantry Band, it has been decided by the Committee of the band to get up a moonlight excursion by the steamer Delta next Tuesday evening, leaving the Hamilton wharf at half-past 6 sharp, and returning about half-past 10. Through the exertions of the committee, matters have been so arranged, as to make the trip both a pleasant, and we trust, a remunerate one, for in reply to a letter sent by Mr Gwynne to Captain Lindsay, asking him if the boat was available, and what were the terms, the generous captain, with his usual kind, liberality, at once telegraphed back, plaoing the steamer Delta at the service of the Band free for a trip on the river ; and it is now to be hoped that the Hamiltonians will come forward and lend a helping hand to enable the debt, which is about £32, to be paid off. The proceeds will be entirely devoted for the object in view, and as this is the first trip of the kind, it is to be hoped that it will be well patronised- The Band have arranged an excellent programme for the occasion, under their new bandmaster, M. Calon, who is working hard to bring its members to perfection. Should the weather prove unfavourable, a flag will be hoieted at Mr Gwynne's, at 5 o'clock in . the afternoon, postponing the trip till the next evening. Dancing will be allowed at intervals during the evening.
