Auckland, Last Night. Vesey Stewart, who arrived by the mail, brings a large amount of information about vine culture in California, and intends introducing that industry into the Bay of Plenty. The Supreme Court case, James Burtt v. W. Earle, has been settled without going to the jury. The Board of Education resolved to confer with the City East Committee about the school dispute. James McLaurin, of the Hautapu School, was the successful candidate for the scholarship.

Wellington, Last Night. It is rumoured that Mr Oliver will resign his portfolio as Minister of Public Works, thereby causing two vacancies in the Cabinet.
