CAMBRIDGE HIGHWAY BOARD.

A meeting of the above Board was held at Hautapu yesterday afternoon. Present — Messrs Grahatn (in the chair), Main, and Smith. The minutes of the previous meeting being read and confirmed, A letter was read from Mr Fantham in answer to a letter received from the Board, stating that he had endeavoured to let filling up of pit at £L 10s, but could not get it done at that price. £2 would be required for the purpose. Resolved that the job should be done at the price quoted. A letter was also read from Mr Fitzgerald, applying to be appointed as Deputy Eegistrar. It was resolved to inform him that the Board did not intend to appoint a registrar. Messrs Graham and Smith reported that they had made a tour of inspection through the district, and suggested the following improvements as requiring the attention of the Board : — A hole near the Hautapu School-house, which was in a dangerous condition ; also, the hole at Camp's Corner ; formation of about eight chains of road leading to the Tamahere Cutting, where the road wanted throwing up. They had been requested by the Tamahere Board to do this work, and therefore thought it advisable to have it done at once. It was proposed that tenders shouli be called for the formation of road leading to Crawfords Gully from the main road. Mr Smith thought in advisable that those jobs should be combined into one contract, and tenders called for same. It was likewise resolved that the road in the vicinity of Hautapu school should receive the immediate attention of tho Board. The Clerk was instructed to write to Captain Runciman, asking him to cut the furze on the road adjoining Mr Edward Rhodes' property. It was also resolved that the Tamahere Board be communicated with, asking them to make the new road passable, leading from Tinne's corner to Railway gate. It was resolved to cut all iurze on the property adjoining the road of persons who had failed to comply with the request of the Board. Several accounts worn received and ordered to be paid,
