CATTLE RESTRICTIONS AND THE INSPECTOR.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — Though not in the habit of signing any document without having read it, I am sorry to say I did sign a petition, which I was informed had been got np for the purpose of requesting the Governor to withdraw the restrictions placed on the cattle in Kirikiriroa and other digtrcts. But I have since been informed that the prayer of the petition is the removal of the inspector of Cattle, Mr John Runciman, from his office. I therefore crave for space in your columns to, protest against my name remaining, on the petition for any such purpose, as I amconvinced that gentleman has had amost disagreeable duty to perform, and has, up to the present, done it to the best of his ability. — I am, &c, J. K. McDonald.
