TO THE EDITOR. Sir,— Mr Le Quesne, m your issue of Thursday, charges me with circulating a report re Clyde-street compact between himself and Mr Price, which he designates as untruthful. Why, sir, it was the common topic of conversation from the nomination, and if it did take place, where was the harm ? And lam proud to say that I would exact a promise from a candidate to see justice done to any part of the borough hitherto ignored. I would be very sorry to have my corn measured m Mr Le Quesne's bushel; every one will admit he is the most unselfish man m the borough. "I know him well," which concludes his letter evidently shows a bilious temperament. He has reason to say so ; I have helped to spoil his Me game over part of Clydestreet when he tried to have the result of his own engineering skill made good at the expense of the ratepayers. Burgesses look up the Minute Book and see his demands, particuarily his last letter, which the Council positively declined to receive, and then judge for your selves. Verb. 802). — I am » & e< » Johx Kxox, Hamilton, sth March, 1880. [This letter did not come to hand till Sunday afternoon. — Ed.]
