TO THE BURGESSES OF HAMILTON. Ladies and Gentlemen, — In consequence of result of election yesterday still further increasing the inequality of representation, with a Council as at present constituted, Hamilton West might as well have actually instead of vertically the whole management of affairs in its own hands. Under these circumstances we feel that it would not only be a constant source, of annoyance and waste of time for us to continue to act as your representatives, but would also be devoid of any credit to ourselves, ov advantage to the borough. We cannot help expressing our regret for the manifestly unfair spirit exhibited, which is eminently calculated to perpetuate little local jealousies, instead of promoting a fair upright manner, which would have an undoubted tendency towards making us a more united community. We ought to be all one ; but not forget there are two sides with supposed equal rights and privileges. An East and West ward appeal's to be the only remedy j for existing state of things. In the meantime, for reasons stated, we most respectfully beg to tender our respective resignations. — We have, &c, Thomas Dawsox, Mayor. Wm. Cumming, ) J. K. McDonald, > Councillors. John Knox, ) Hamilton East, Feb. 27, 1880.
