RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
Hamilton, Feb. 22, 1878. (Before W. N. Searancke, Esq., R.M.)
LUNACVT.
George Penny field was charged with being of ans >und mind (supposed delirium tremens). Sergeant McGoveru said he would have to ask His Worship for a remand m this case, as he (the Sergeant) feared very much that Penuytield was becoming a lunatic, not from any recent fit of drinking, but from one that had lasted, to the Sergeant's own knowledge, over a period of ten years. It was shown, on evidence, that his delations were -— " that a numbet of men (Fenians) were roaming abont the Piako County, and have a machine with them that cuts and grinds up all the laboring men they come across ; that all his mates have been ground up by this machine, and that be himself ha.-, had a narrow escape." His "Worship thought it would be well to remand the accused to Wednesday, the 26 ch instant. Remanded accordingly.
