There U very little native news just now, those who suffered from the late floods are busy repairing damages, such as fencing and building new houses in place of those washed away. A great deal of personal property has been lost, with some of the houses, saddles, blankets, etc. and in two instances money, Young Tawhiao Te Eata is at Kopua, waiting for Tawhiao, who is up at Waitoma j when he returns they are all off to Kawhia on a fishing excursion. The VVaipa Bridge is to be re-erected as coon as possible, it being an utter impossibility foa the township board to do s© out of the small sum collected from the ratepayers. The chairman, Mr John Aubin, telegraphed to the Hon Sir Donald. McLean, representing Ihe impscuniosiby ef the Board and the urgent necessity that the bridge should be replaced. Sir Donald answered immediately that the woi'k should be at once commenced and the bridge built at the expense of the Government. Of course the Government ii now in high favor, and McMinn, who gops in to oppise the Defence Minister, will now lose a good many votes, for who would vote against a Governmedt who has shown its willingness to assist us with so much readiness.
