CRICKET.

As wp anticipated in a previous issue, the return match at Cricket — Settlors v. Armed Constabulary — was played in u paddoc:%, kindly lent for tlio occasion by Captain Steele, on Saturday last, which resulted in a hollow victory for the settlers. Tliero was some very good play exhibited on both sidod, but it is c\ ident the superior fielding of the settlers will always carry tho day, which in a great measure may be accounted for by their playing to much together, whilst the samo eleven of constabulary, in consequence of duty interfering, never by any chance practice together. On the tettlers' side, in the aecoiul innings, Mr Hood carried his bat out for 41, and Messrs A. E. Cox and W. Pilling bowled in their usual destri-ctno style. For the constabulary, Captain Morrison and Constable Mar»hall batted steadily and obtained a low runs, whilut Constables William Bond and Carleton bowled very well, but it is evident the constabulary want moJe practice together before t hey can taokle such a team as v\ as brought against them on Saturday last.
