KIHIKIHI. ( FROM A CORRESPONDENT.)

An entertainment took place in tbe fchool-house on the 6th instant, at which over 140 peraons were present. The proceeds are to be devoted to school purposes. The actors were wholly composed of members of the A.C. force. Thoy opened with nigger on Christy Minstrel performances, followed by songs, recitations, stump speeches, farces, &c. Considering the very short time (loss than one week) the amateurs had for rehearsals the whole of the pieces were well executed ; indeed, the performance would be no disgrace to an Auckland stage. The stage and scenes were got up in proper theatrical style. The performance oqncluded at 10 o'clock, after which about 40 couple remained to trip the light fantastic, which was kept up until the small hours of the morning, when the company left for their respective homes, all well pleased" with the night's entertainment. The School Committee wishes publicly to thank those gentlemen who so ably contributed towatds the evening's entertainment and the funds of the school. The new blockhouse outside Bangiaohia is getting nearly completed. When it is garrisoned it will add much to the security of the district. The natives are keeping very quiet lately, seldom visiting our township, occasionally bringing in a few kits, of maize to be exchanged for blankets. HauLaus are planting large quantities of wheat, potatoes, &o, in the neighborhood; of Te Kuiti, apparently preparing to feed a large army in that quarter if necessary. The settlements outside of Orakau, Aratitaha, and Whariepapa are quite deserted, the natives having all joined Purukutu.
