THE object of the Company is to provide regular aud speedy Steam Communication on the Waikato River! to tupply a want so long and universally felt in the District. The Provisional Directors have ascertained the opinion of the Waikato Settlers on the subject, and have been promised an almost unauimous support. As the name of tho Company implies, it i 3 the intention to make :i principally a settler's undertaking, and with that \iew, ..he Company is to be formed in £1 shares, so that all residents may be able to join, thereby securing to the Company the whole of the river traffic, and consequently, to themselves a remunerative investment. The Directors anticipate that the Shares -will be fully subscribed for, and operations commenced w ithin six months and that not more than 10s. per share will bo called up satisfactory baukmg arrangements having been made. It is proposed to build a powerful steamer suitable for he requirements of the river, at an estimated cost of i £500 C ; also several barges and Goods' Depots. Arrangements, # have been made for a supply of Coal at Ralph's Mine, at the rate of 10s. per ton, for a term of years. The Waikato Flax Company art Trilling to run their steamer, now being built, in connection with the Company, or if desirable, amalgamate tho same with it. The Olllco of the Company is to be in Auckland, with a Manager in Waikato, under the direction of a Local Committee. The Provisional Directors to hold office for Six Months oin date, when a General Meeting of Shareholders will be called to elect a Directory.
