f 1 1HE object of the Company is to provide regular aud "■- speedy Steam Communication on the Waikato Biveri to supply a want so long and universally felt in. the District. The Provisional Directors have ascertained the opinion of the Waikato Settlors on the subject, and ha\ c been promised an almost unanimous support. As the name of the Company implies, it is the intention to make it principally a settlor's undertaking, and with that mow, the Company is to bo formed m £1 shares, bo that all residents may be able to join, thereby securing to the Company the whole of the river traflic, and consequently, to themselves a remunerative investment. The Directors anticipate that the Shares will be fully subscribed for, and operations commenced within six months and that not more than 10s. per share will be called up satisfactory banking arrangements having been made. It is proposed to build a powerful steamer suitablo for he requirements of the river, at au estimated cost of £50(X 5 also aevenil barges and Goods' Depots. Arrangements have been made for a supply of Coal at Ralph's Mine, at the rate of 10s. per ton, for a term of years. The Waikato Flax Company are willing to run their steamer, now being built, in connection with the Company, or if desirable, amalgamato the same with it. The Ofllco of tho Company is to be in Auckland, with a Manager in Waikato, under the direction of a Local Committee. Tho Provisional Directors to hold office for Six Months om date, when a General Meeting of Shareholders will be called to elect a Directory.
