SPECIAL TELEGRAMS TO THE "WAIKATO TIME S."
Cambridge Wednesday, 3.50 pum Mr Williamson, M.H.E , addressed a meeting of electors at the school-room. There were forty present. A vote of confidence was passed. An absurd rumour is afloat that Cambridge is to be attecked to-night. It is generally reported, but the settlers disbelieve it entirely.
Auckland, Wednesday, 7.30 p.m. Supreme Court. — In the case of Graham t. Thomas the Judge granted a new trial. At a meeting of the shareholders in the Inverness mine it was resolved to let the mine on tribute. The Westport flood has caused £150,000 damages. Many acres are w ashed away ; many of the inhabitants are homeless. The water is subsiding. A public meeting has beon held. Another flood would wash away the whole town. The situation is desperate without outside help. Much distress has been caused.
