Wellington, Monday. The Court of Appeal opened to-day. The proceedings were unimportant. Tho Hon. Mr Yogel is rccororing. Dimulin, Monday. Mr Macandrew, in a message to the Provincial Council, complains that between the majorih of the Council and himself there is an absence of that mutual de->ire for progress and that community of sentiment which arc ho essential to the promotion of tho public weal. The Superintendent sont a message to the Council expressing his surprise- at the resolutions declaring lm conduct regarding Mr Reid as unconstitutional, He declares that he would act in a similar manner again under the same circumstances, believing his action has the support of tho country. He asks the Council to agree to an immediate dissolution. Mr Reid stated he had been sent for, and hoped to announce tho result to-morrow. Mr Barton has tabled a resolution approving Mr Phmsoll's action in the House of Commons re English shipping, and recommending a vote for his defence in the libel action. Tuesday. Cbmtt'liurch, Monday The Cattle Board to-day passed resolutions ullirming the desirability of giving ell'cct tothe decision of the Intercolonial Conference wit h reference to import ation of stock from be\ ond the limits of the Australian colonies, and that New Zealand should udopt tho prohibition on condition of oil the other colonies doing the same ; also, that notice by advertisement in the Times should be given »b to the date on which the prohibition would commence, and that in tho meantime stock should only be .illo'ved to land under very stringent conditions of inspection and quarantine.
