" I biivo received the resolutions of tbo adjourned meeting of tho 3rd mst , and assure thd settlers that the Government are working alter mature deliberation, seeking the fullest information, and they have tho most careful consideration for tho lives and properties of the settlers m the Waikato. At tho same time the Government must reserve to itself tho rio;lit of deciding the line of action to bo pursued. The- question of a chain ot redoubts on the eoniiscuton line is under carrful consideration.
