INDUCTION SERVICE
METHODIST MINISTER. There was a large and representative gathering in the Riverton Methodist (Jhureh on Friday, April 12th for the Induction of the Rev. H. It. Wright as minister in charge of the lUverton Circuit. The service was conducted by the Rev. W. 11. Greenslade, of lnvercargill, supervisor of the district. He was assisted' by Mr D. J. Wesney, vicepresident of the Methodist Conference, and the Rev. G. B. Rinton, of St. Peters, Invercargill, who delivered the Charge to the new minister. After the delivery of the Charge, the Rev. W. H. Grsenslade formally inducted the nevAninisiter, and in doing so urged upon cne congregation, who stood in acknowledgment of their renewed loyalty, -the need for prayerful support of their Pastor. An impressive service was brought to a close by the new minister pronouncing the Benediction. An adjournment was then made $o the Sunday School Hall, where a social gathering was held under the chairmanship of Mr G. Willis, junior, Circuit steward. Mr Willis welcomed Rev. and Mrs Wright to Riverton Circuit, and assured them of the loyal support of all Methodist members and adherents throughout the district. Captain Tatton, of the Salvation Army, and the Rev. J. N. Goodman, of St. Mary's, extended a cordial welcome on behalf of their respective churches. An apology Avas received from the Rev. J. A. F. Watson, who was unable to attend. Mr Evans conveyed the greetings of the lay preachers, Rev. G. B. Hinton expressed good wishes on behalf of his officials and congregation at St. Peters, and Mr D. J. Wesney spoke for the laymen of Invercargill. In conclusion Rev. Greenslade said that as supervisor, he desired only to be a friend to the new minister and spoke very highly of Mr Wright's past work in other spheres. In reply, the. Rev. Mr Wright expreissed the appreciation of his wife and himself at the warm welcome they had received. He reminded his hearers that history taught them that the world's great movements had all begun in quiet country places, and that there was inspiration to be gained from tho thought that it was their privilege to mould the characters of those ; who would later pass on to the larger cities, and perhaps make the history of the, future. During the evening musical items were rendered by Mrs S. H. [the, acconipaniste being Miss Robinson. Supper provided by the ladies of the church brought an enjoyable evening to a close*
