The play was maintained at a veiy higii standard and provided a strenuous evening. “Has Beens” should change names with the Riverton ladies’ team. Cheers for the Riverton men’s team 4 which combined fairly well. In the final of the women’s • event, Waipango defeated Riverton “Has Beens” after a very exciting and ' closely contested match, in which the winning goal was scored almost on time. . 1 EVENING TOURNAMENT. An enjoyable tournamentCjjppk place last Friday evening in the Empire Theatre. Eight women’s and nine men’s teams competed in an evening basketball tournament held by the Riverton Basketball Club. F olio wing were the results : —■ WOMEN’S COMPETITION First round: Waipango 11 v. Spar Bush 3 j Riverton District High School , 10 v. Wright’s Bush 8; Riverton 9 v. Colac Bay 8; “Has BeAis” 11 v, Otautau 5. Semi-finals: Waipango 11 v. Riverton District High School 6; “Has Beens 7 v. Riverton 6. Final: Waipango 7 v. “Has Beens” 6. - Consolation event: Spar Bush 8 v. Wrights Bush 5; Colac Bay 8 v. Otautau 4. Final: Colac Bay,6 v. Spar Bush 2. ■ < MEN’S COMPETITION First round: Riverton ll v. Waipango 2; Colac Bay 13 v “Seven irwarfs” nil; “Old Boys” 11, Otaitai Bush 2 ; Thornbury 5 v “Invincibles” 3; Colac Bay “Oddfellows” a bye. Second round: Riverton 4 v. “Odd- ! fellows” 3; “Old Boys” 7 v. Thornbury 2 ; Colac Bay a bye. Semi-final : Colac Bay 8 v. “Old Boys” 4; Riverton a bye. Final : Colac Bay 5 v. Riverton 4.
