The Commissioner of Transport (Mr G. L. Laurenson) wrote stating that the New Zealand Road'' Supply Council would be meeting early in March and asked if the council had any ■ views about restricting the use of motorcycles.

It was also considered greater discretion should be given to inspectors in the granting of licences.
Cr Crawford mentioned the unsatisfactory state of the street lighting system. If there wer e any wind at all, he said, there was trouble with lights and they were continually going out. It was decided that the Lighting Committee h e authorized' "'to have the necessary work done to have the lighting put in order.
Cr Patrick said it seemed that a very unsatisfactory job was being made of tlio widening of the Bay road. As it was, being done at present the road would be a series of curves. It would be more satisfactory if about two feet of the bowling green were taken. ,Cr Walker: You could take six or eight feet of the howling green property without interfering with .the playing area.
Cr Fossey: Take two feet if that would help matters. After discussion Cr Patrick moved that the council, write to the public wprks engineer stating that the council viewed the construction of the road work with concern and expressed its dissatisfaction. The council would also request that .the engineer com’e to Riverton to meet the council and examine .the job before it progressed too far. The motion was carried.

Cr Pinckney said they wished to see if there was ahy chance of the Harbour Board giving something, towards the road leading to Bickley’s and Muirhead’s property. It rvas now too late to apply for a subsidy for this year. About 10 chains wa6 formed and ready for gravelling and the road was used for carting manure, and so on. He would like' to see some work done before the winter. There was about a mile to be done altogether, but it was desired to have about 10 or 12 chains done immediately.
