WOMEN’S DIVISION OF THE FARMERS’ UNION.

THOENBURY BRANCH. At the March meeting of the Thorn bury branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union Mrs Hall piesided over a fair attendance of members. A letter of thanks for selling goods made by returned soldiers was received from the secretary of the Returned Soldiers’ Association. It was decided to send £6 to the general executive fund and £4 to the ministering fund. Competitions resulted ns follows: — Woman’s dress spray: Miss N. Fallow I, Mrs J. Fallow 2,, Mrs Buchan 3. Best bloom: Mrs J. McLean 1, Mrs J. Ranee 2, Mrs P. Lindsay 3. A demonstration on the making of bouquets and, dress sprays was given by Mrs Ward, of Riverton, for which she was • accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mr? J. Buchanan, Mrs J. Fallow and Miy J. Bunco. TUATAPERE BRANCH. Miss McEwan presided over a. good attendance at the monthly meeting of the Tuatapeto branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union. It was repoitcd that a successful show was held in Davies’s Hall ou February 22 and 23. A committee was formed to make arrangements for the annual Women's Division of the Farmers’ Union picture next month. An invitation was received to the Fairfax birthday party. A parcel of. magazines was forwarded to the Riverton Hospital during the month. Mrs F. Harrison attended the Invercargill executive meeting. FAIRFAX BRANCH. Tim Fairfax branch of (he Women’s Division of tlio Farmers’ Union held their monthly meeting recently, Mrs Me

Intosk presiding over a tig attendance. There -was a good response to the roll call, “Hints on jam-making.” Preparations were completed for the birthday party to be held on March 22. The competitions resulted: — Best bloom: Mrs Oliver 1, Mrs Edie 2, Mrs Prentice 3.

Bottle of strawberry jam: Mrs Mitchell 1, Mrs Meek 2, Mesdames Brown and Prentice 3 (equal).

Hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Meek and Barclay.
