SALVAGE OF SUNKEN WHALE CHASER.

VESSEL REFLOATED AT

STEWART ISLAND

The whalo chaser Star V, which sank at its moorings in Paterson Inlet, Stewart Island some weeks ago, apparently because of the sea-cocks being opened, has been refloated and is now in shallow water, according to private advice received in Bluff on Thursday

evening. Details of the salvaging of the ship are not yet available. Captain R. J. Hamilton, the owner of the vessel, left Bluff a fortnight ago for the whaling base to raise the ship with a salvage pump. He is expected to return at the end of the week. The Star V*'is one of the vessels of the Boss Sea whaling fleet which have been lying at the base and which were acquired by Captain Hamilton last year. One of the vessels was towed to Port Chalmers, where it is'undergoing overhaul.
