PROGRAMME DRAWN UP. The monthly meeting of the Riverton Racing Club committee held on Tuesday evening was attended by the chairman (Mr D. M. Tweedie), Messrs R. J. Walker, J. A. Martin, F. Trail, B. Fleck, D. F. Macdocgall, C. T, Edie, H. J. Riddle, J. W. Ronald, E. A. Trail, A. F. Webb and E. B. Patrick. Before proceeding with the ordinary business the chairman feelingly referred to the deaths of 'Mrs A. E. Willett (wife of one of the vice-presidents) and Mr A. Aitken (one of the members) an<l a motion of sympathy was carried in the usual manner. After a short discussion the following programme was drawn up : FIRST DAY. Trial Handicap, £125. Seven f. The total increase in stakes for the first day is £75, second £SO, and third £lO5, making a grand'total of £230. In 1933 the total sum given in stakes was £4030, and this year it will be £4260. It wa3 also decided that the cup carry a sweepstake of £5 and the Champion Hack £3. It was ~ ; resolved that hack steeplechases . conditions be altered to read: "For horses that have not won a steeplechase of the value of £BS, or steeplechase of the collective value Ot £l7O at the time of starting.", Out of four applications Mr C._E. Hassall, of Timaru, was appointed handicapper. Mr A. D. Mclvor was appointed starter and Mr H. B. Ireland the judge.
