OBITUARY

There passed away at the Riverton hospital this morning a well known resident of the Fairfax district, in the person of Ben Ward. The late Mr Ward was one of the early pioneers of the district. He was a batchelor and devoted a good deal' of his leisure hours in writing poetry and was a constant contributor to this journal in the early days. A book of his poems was printed some years ago. The late Mr Ward was also a breeder of the Black Polled Angus cattle, and exhibited at many of the shows.
