COLAC BAY NOTES.
(Own Correspondent.)
Since my last notes I regret having to report the death of Mr David Smith, of Round Hill and Mrs Wixon, of Colac Bay. The%former wan widely known and highly''respected throughout the district- For many years he followed the occupation of a gold miner, but more recently has been engaged in the sawmilling industry. , The deceased: was a man of sterling qualities, good-natured and inoffensive, and will be greatly missed by his many associates in the district. The funeral, which took place at Orepuki last Tuesday was attended by a large number of relatives and friends.
4"Mrs Wixon was a daughter of the late Tevi Te Au, of Colac, and the wife of Mr John Wixon, of Mussel Beach. -A large tangi was held during the past week, and relatives and friends from distant iparts of Otago and Southland assembled to take part
in the proceedings. The funeral, which was one o'f the largest ever held here, took place at the native cemetery last Saturday. Mr Bannerman, the local Home Misionary, conducted the service at the graveside.
