RIVERTON FOOTBALL CLUB.

The annual general meeting of the above, held! on Tuesday evening, drew but’ a moderate attendance, Mr A. F. Stock being: in the chair. The Secretary read the report and balance sheet for the past season, and these were-adopted. The report was as follows: —“The members of the Club are to be congratulated on the past season’s performances, having won premiership honours for both senior and junior grades. The seniors played six matches, winning five and losing one, and have been winners of the Western District premiership for the last two seasons in Succession, thus gaining final possession of the Bisset cup. The junior team played four matches, winning three and losing one. A committee was appointed to secure a tablet of brass on a slab, with the names of all the members who sacrificed their lives in the war. The tablet has been ordered from Dunedin, and 27 names will be placed on it. It will be hung in the local Athenaeum', and the cost will be between £3O and £35. The sincere thanks of the members of Club are due to Messrs A. F. Stock, A. B. Ward, G. E. Johnstone, P. Wilson and Mrs Keen for their interest on the Club’s behalf; also the Borough Council for granting free use of the recreation ground.” The balance sheet showed the Club to be in a sound financial position. The receipts amounted to £54 16s 3d, expenditure £22 13s lid, leaving a credit balance of £32 2s 4d. The President addressed* the meeting, and spoke of the good! work done by the Club during the year, especially the sympathy shown their fallen comrades by collection of funds to erect a tablet, and also complimented the secretary on his valuable services. Mr C. E. Johnstone endorsed) the President’s remarks. It was resolved that a recommendation he made to incoming members to carry out the work on the graves at the cemetery.

Dennis, D. MeBengali, J. Branks, Drs. Trotters and Gordon. Captain, J. Gumming; deputy-captain, S. Bade; Junior captain, J. Rose; deputy-cap. C. King. Secretary and Treasurer, Mr C. Oassels. Committee; W. Anderson, A. Stevens, W. R. McNee, H. Johnstone, W. Foster, F. Weir, J, Robson, with Oapt. and Deputy-captain. Match Committee; W. "Anderson and! J. O’Brien with Captain, and Deputy-eapt. Delegates to W.D.R.S.U.: W. Anderson and J- Gumming. Referees, Messrs P. Wilson, T. Henderson, O. Casselg.

Opening day .was fixed for the second! Wednesday in April, a match ; to be fixed for that date.

..The President spoke re condition of the grounds, and asked the members of the Club to consider the matter with a vew to showing the Borough Council how to raise Ifunds for the upkeep instead of. letting same for the grazing of horses. -It was decided! that Mr Webb be asked to draw chain harrow? over the ground before play, the President and 'S'ecrtary to form deputation to that gentleman. The -subscription for the coming season was fixed at; 5/-, senior members, and 3/-, junior members.

The delegates were instructed to support Wednesday as being the best day for the playing of district fixtures.

Several new members were elected. Hearty votes of thanks to the retiring President and to the chair terminated the meeting.
