GENERAL NEWS.
Ifc is officially notified that men of classes A and B of the Second Division of the Deserve may bo accepted a.s voluntary recruits up to and including the last day of this! month for any draft up to and including that which proceeds to camp during the first week of March, 1918. All volunteers so enlisting and rejected by medical practitioners must be brought before district medical boards within one week of their attestation, so that if passed they may have the longest possible time to arrange their private affairs before proceeding to camp. Red Cross workers, arc requested not to knit double heels into socks, as these are not accepted by the central body. The meeting of Bayswater settlers interested in the Jacob’s River protective embankments, which was convened by Mr T. A. Buckingham, drew together a representative, gathering, and after some conversational discussion it was resolved, on the motion of Messrs Mansou, and Ryan, to hold over further consideration, of the course to be embarked upon until judgment in the appeal Crowe v. (Jerrard is delivered.
