BOWLING.

11IVERTON CLUB. A committee meeting of the above club was held last evening, when the treasurer reported that the' membership will be up to last year and that there was only one liability.—for the •purchase of soil—all the rest having been met. The green committee reported that the green was in capital order and was never so far forward as this season. It could be played on a-t any time now.

APARIMA CLUB

During last week the members were busy giving the green its final topdressing. The grass has come away well and there should be a good playing surface this year. It is intended to open the season on 17th October. The club has been unfortunate in that during the year it has lost a number olf good players in removalsfrom the town. OTAUTAU CLUB. Otautau Club opened the season on Wednesday last. Owing to the unavoidable absence of the President (Mr A. C. Mills) the match arranged • —President v. Vice-president.— did not eventuate, but teams selected by Messrs Gordon and Tonkiuson played a game. C. Renowden, J. Paninenter, T. King, J. Gordon (s) 18; A. G. Stevens, M. Richards, 0. W. Tonkiuson (s) 20. Fairly good form was shown, and the play of Messrs Stevens, King and Parmonter was really good. The green was iu perfect order, the weather ideal, and though the attendance was not over numerous the afternoon was enjoyable, ' The grass on last year’s extension of the green has come away well, and the green committee played a game on it on Friday afternoon. With care and attention the club will probably be playing the full green this season.
