SOCIAL AT ROUND HILL.
On Thursday night a social was held in Mr O’Brien’s hall at Round Hill, the occasion being to welcome home Private W. Coaling. Many friends from, .far and near were present. The hall was well decorated with flags and' ferns, and an energetic committee had provided a splendid evening’s entertainment. During the concert, speeches were delivered by the Rev. E. Swinerd, and Messrs G. T. Dawson, D. Smith and P. Devereux, all referring to the excellent qualities of the returned soldier. In the course of his remarks the chairman, Mr J. Thomas, referred to the excellent record of the Couling family, the only three eligible sons having voluntarily enlisted and gone to the war. At the conclusion of the concert, the guest of the evening in a few well chosen words thanked his friends for their hearty welcome-. “For lie’s a jolly good fellow ’’ and three hearty cheers followed. The hall was then cleared for dancing, which was continued until the early hours of the morning. An excellent supper was provided by the ladies.
