MEND TORN LACE.

Carefully mend all lace before washing if any repair is necessary, as the size of a hole in lace is very largely increased while washing. In making boiling-water starch the addition of a little shredded wax makes the iron run smoothly, thus minimising he danger of the iron sticking to the starch. Look out for stains and always, if possible, remove them before washing the article. Plunging a stained garment into hot water only fixes the stain. As far as possible, sort your clothes as von take them in from the line, putting the ironing things together, woollen kings together, etc. There is really no necessity to iron sheets and towels, as they arc quite all right if they are put through the mangle, aired, and then put straight into the linen cupboard.
