TURN OF THE TIDE. WESTERN CAMPAIGN SWINGS-TO ALLIES. LONDON, April 27. The War Office and Admiralty state that (after a day’s (hard fighting the troops on the Gallipoli Peninsula (the Dardanelles), are making a thoroughly good footing with the Navy’s effective help. The French have taken 500 prisoners. CAIRO, April 27. Official: The Allies, under Sir lan Hamilton, effected a landing on both sides of the Dardanelles in excellent condition and took many prisoners. The,’ Allies continue to advance. PARIS, April 27. The French have occupied Kum Kaleh, at the entrance to the Dardanelles. PARIS, Apri 27. Official: Our progress north of Ypros continues, and also that of the British. We have taken numerous prisoners, and captured a trench mortar and machine guns. Wo have assumed the offensive at Les Eparges, St, Remy and Calonne. At ona point of the front an officer counted 1000 German dead. We have advanced 200 metres on the eastern slopes of Hartmannsweilerkopf.
