RIVERTON SAILING CLUB.
At the annual meeting of the Riverton Sailing Club! on Friday evening the following, - officials were elected Commodore, Mr Akhurst; vioo-commo-dorc, Meters T. Bailey, Willett, G. R, Benidtsom, Hamilton, Ward; cap tain 1 , .Mr Wk'Stirling ; treasurer L. Petofciell; secretary C. E, Rdbertsou!; Oomtolittee Messrs'.W. Baxter, D. G. Robertson. H And?rson, T, R. Robertson, H. Groan W. Leader, J; Andrews A. Forsyth, Bailing committee—d. C. and C. E. Robertson, 11. Anderson. It was decided t 0 resume the races for Mr Akhurst’is trophy. The first race was sailed last year, when tho following points were gained—iL. Petohell’s Sea Foam 4, 11. AkhUrst’s' Ripple 3, D. C. Robert son’s l Una 2. J. Andrew’s Mirth 1. The next race will start from the bridge on Wednesday, [Dee. I at 2-30 p.m. Fresh nominations'will be received for the series, the prizes being as follows—First Mr Akhurst’a trophy, second los, third 10s, fourth us. provided ten entries are received. The entry fee is 2s Cd a boat. It is reported ill at Messrs D. King (Winton), W A. Saunltlers (Wanton), and das. Lumsden '(Drummond) are likely to be> nominated for the vacancy on tlio Education Board. Visitors to tlyj Otautau Show, would lie pleased to note the splendid cXhibits of the vehicles for exhibition only , l )y the well-known and popular limn of Templeton ami Walker. -Another urc worthy of note was the very flange number of conveyances in the show ring in the tradesmen's turnout class, bearing the name of this firm, this fact going to show the evergrowing popularity of the firm.
