.WAXJiAOB .COUNTY jDOS^ICSU: NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that' at a Special Meeting of the Wallace County Council, held at the Council Chambers, Otautau, on the 21st day of August, 1908, the following resolution (by way of Special Order) was passed : "In pursuance of the powers and authorities contained in "The Counties Act 188(6," "The Act 1905,” and all other enabling; powers provisions and authorities contained in any other Acts or otherwise vested in it, the Council of the Wallace County doth hereby by this Special Order make and ordain thefollowing By-law amending the Bylaws passed by the said Council on the 16th day of August' 190.7- and ; 'eon*! firmed by resolution and sealed on the 20th day ; of September 1907, such By-law to coma into operation on the 9th day of November 1908.” AND the following is a statement of the object or purport of such Bylaw : To amend the By-laws passed by the said Council on the .16th day«of August 1907 and confirmed- by resolution and sealed on the 20th day of September 1907 in the ,following respects (a) To repeal Section 22 of the said By-laws and' to substitute therefor the following : ” 22. Whenever the driver or person in change of any traction engine travelling on any rood' shall ap proach, meet or overtake any horse then being led, ridden, or driven or any cattle then driven or in charge of any person or shall from any cause whatever be unable to have a clear and uninterrupted view of the said road or of the traffic thereon for at least 50 yards ahead of , suchengine the said driver or person in charge of such engine shall stop and before proceeding further shall cause a man to go in advance c-f the saidengine at a distance of not less than 5o yards therefrom to warn all riders, dirivers or persons in of cattle of the proximity ot the engine, and, if required so to do, to assist such riders or drivers, or persons in charge of cattle, and the dritTW of the engine whenever required by any rider or driver r person iu charge of cattle, shall stop the ®ngluQ sonio suitable poini or piftCe bo as to allow suen rider or driver or person to pass with such iu i see or cattle.” (b) To restrict the operation of Sections 27, 28 and 29 of the said By-laws to carta, drays, waggons, lorries, or other vehicles of the same class. («) To repeal Sections 30 and 48 of the said By-laws and substitute therefor provisions making it imperative that the weight of the loads c r contents of vehicles in so far as they consist of the materials specified in the first schedule to the said By-laws shall be ascertained by computing such weight in accordance with the table set out in the said first schedule. (d) To alter Section 47 of the said bylaws so ae to include coal and lignite. AND NOTICE IS HEREBY Given that the saM resolution will be 'submitted for adoption and confirmation to the ordinary meeting of the Council to be held at the Council Chambers situate in Main street, ; Otautau, on FRIDAY, the ICth day |of October 1908,'at eleven o’clock in the forenoon. A copy of the proposed Special Order making the Bylaw aforesaid is deposited at the Office of the said Council, Main street, Otautau, where the same will lie open for public inspection during office (hours until the said confirming meeting is held.
