RAM AND NEW FAIR.
At the Burnside saleyards the eleventh annual ram and ewe fair, under the auspices of the Otago Agricultural and Pastoral Sooifily was held last week :—There were altogether 1062 entries, made np as follows : —26 stud rama, 996 flock rams, and 40 Border Leicester ewes. The Mutual Agency Company report : " The entry, although not so large as that of last year, proved much in excess of requiaements, and a great number bad to be sent home again. Bidding was exceedingly dull, and in a* great number of cases no bids were forthcoming at all. The quality of the stock generally an improvement, but the demand, if anything, was a great deal worse than that of last year. We sold etud rama for Messrs M'Kercher Bros, at up to 9|(?uineas, and for Messrs Little Bros, at up to Sfguinfas. In flock rams we sold for Messrs M'Kercher Bros, Little Bros, John Beid, Trust and Loan Company, A Kilgour, B Grieve, Land Company, Terrace Kange, and ■ tbers, at prices in favor of the buyers, and two pens nice ewes on account of Mr John McCrostio. Our total yarding was 244 of all classes."
