SOUTHLAND LAND BOARD.
The fortnightly meeting wos held yesterday being attended by the Chief Commissioner (Mr D. Barron), and Messrs Kinross, Mclntye, Baldey, and King. The ranger reported that he valued the sawmilling timber on section 20, block 8, and section 5, block 7, Longwood, at £4s. —Wilson Bros., who had offered that fum to be informed accordingly. The ranger reported that the construction of a water race through section 5, block 16, Lougwood, as proposed by Mr O’Connell, would not effect the improvements or working of the section.—Warden to be asked, when granting water race, to require survey and plan, as section is about to be leased.
The ranger reported that he valued the improvements on section block 16, Longwood, at £26s.—Approved. At last meeting George Beer was recommended owing to a misrepresentation of his case to apply to surrender his lease, which had been forfeited owing to his being £97 odd in arrears.—lt was decided that the ranger take possession and value the improvements, and that the run be put up again. An application from John Kynaaton for a grazing license over two pieces of land at the Waiau, at the head of Fenham Crrek was refused. Messrs Todd and Graham, Fairfax,
were granted a division of coal lease No 7, with right to cultivate surfaces.
