The " Labour Journal " fcr "November states that there are 1991 men employed on co-operative works in the colony. There have been heavy withdrawals of wool during the last day or two from the London sales, owing to poor bidding and the downward tendency of prices. A shoemaker was fitting a customer with a pair of boots when the buyer observed that he had but one objection to them, which was that the soles were a little too thick. "If that is all," replied the shoemaker, " put on the boots, and the objection will gradually wear away."
