CRICKET.

On St. Andrew's Day a match between the Invercargill and Aparima Clubs was played on the Riverton Kaik, resulting in a win for the former by 7 wickets, the game being a most enjoyab'e one. The weather was all that could.be desired, aad the playing was witnessed by a large number of townspeople. Invercargill was captained by G. G Burns, and Jas Pattison filled a similar position for Aparima. Winning the toss he elected to bat, and at 12 o'clock J. R. Mills and A. E. Willett commenced the innings by taking up the willow. After making a fairly good stand, their wickets fell for 5 and 6 runs respectively F Mills was highest scorer with 7, and all were out for 37, 11 being byes. At one an adjournment took place for lunch at Host Pattison's Globe Hotel, and needless to say it was of the very best. Having renewed their strength the com--1 a ants again took thefi.dd, Walls and Brown opening the first innings for Invercaiglll. Dairy mple, however, was the only man to make any stand, and put together 25, all baing out for 53, the boards and matting as usual puzzling the Invercargill players. Aparima then resumed batting, W. Clark and F Mills being the only ones to make any stand, the former contributing 12 and the latter 16 of a total score of 39. Invercargill now required 24 to win, and these were soon put together by Dalrymple, Barnes and Kingsland, thus making the visitors winners, as stated, by 7 wickets. For Invercai'gill Kingsland and Dalrymple managed the leather very well, while for Aparima Owens, Patti. on and Cantrell all bowled well. Following are the detailed scores : RIVERTOST. Ist innings.
