PARLIAMENT.
Tuesday, 28rd June,
In the evening the debate on the financial proposals of tbo Government was opened by Mr Bryc?, who was followed by the Minister for E location. Mr Macarthur took up the running, and he in turn was answered bv the Postmaster-genera', when the deba'e was adjourned. Thursday, 25th June.
The Legislative Council adjourned immediately after meeting, out of re spect to the memory of its late member, the Hon. Captain Fraser. The Rouse of Representatives also adjourned till tiie evening as a mark of respect, but before doing so the report of the Petitions Committee recommending for favourable consideration the case of Lieutenant-colonel Stapp was received. The Hon. W. P. Reeves also made a personal explanation*in connection with a remark made on the previous evening by the member for Mount Ida, and the same matter was again referred to in the evening, after which the financial debate was resumed by Mr Duthie, who was followed by the newly-elected member for Egmont, after which Captain Russell was the only speaker, the debate being adjourned.
