WALLACE AND FIORD HOSPITAL.
The monthly meting of tbe Trustees was held ou Saturday when Messrs Playfair (Chairman), Baldey, Blackstock, Fraser, Hamilton and Woods were present. Plans and specifications of the proposed morgue and sheds were laid on the table. Slight amendments having been made thereto, they were unanimously adopted. The Surgeon-Superintendent’s report for the month as follows was read :
I beg to submit, for the information of tlio Committee, the following report for last month—Admissions—Mules, 2 ; females, 3 ; total, 5. Discharges—Males, 3 ; females, 1 ; total, 4. Deaths—Males, 1; females, 1; total, 2. Remaining— Males, 4 ; females, 2; total, 6. Out-patients—Males, 4 ; females, 7; total, 11. The admissions wore chiefly of a medical nature. One accident, fracture of the leg, was admitted. In the two cases of death no other result could bo honed for. Those remaining are progressing favourably. I hope the committee will consider the matter of laying out the grounds. It is much required, and f think this time of the year would bo suitable. A wicker gate ought to be placed in front of the hospital; an ash pit is required. It would bo better to paint the fence completely- Another step-ladder is required for the male ward.
Regarding the laying out of the grounds, Mr Hamilton thought this matter should be deferred until the spring. He moved to that effect, and that the other things referred to in the report bo attended to. —Carried. Mr Port brought up the question of tho supply of water. Ho thought they should adopt some method of filtering the water for use in the institution. The pump should also be raised to prevent snrfaeewater flowing into tho reservoir. He would also suggest that some of the paths be gravelled. He gave notice that he would move in these matters at next meeting, Presents for the month were thankfully received—-Fruit and vegetables from Church of England harvest thanksgiving at Riverton, Thornbury, and dummies Bush ; Mr Hopcroft, senr., vegetables ; Mrs Lynch, vegetables ; Mrs Stevenson, useful linen. The Trustees desired our reporter to intimate that donations of old linen for tho institution would be very acceptable. Accounts amounting to £lll 17s t)d were passed for payment. The meeting then adjourned.
