KING OF THE DUDES.

Evander Berry Wall, the king of the dudes, is no longer king, says the New York Morning Journal. Tomasao Luis Onativia is the new king and he is well suited for the position, considering that he is a nephew of the Emperor of Brazil. Mr Onativia's collection of vari-col-ored waistcoats and striped trousers is the envy of the jemesse dore of Gotham, while his stable of imported thoroughbreds and crack hunters is the talk of the town.

This modern Beau Brummel has only turned 21, and yet he is as blase in appearance as a man of 45. Whenever this jeune galant drops his single-barr-elled glass, he doesn't bother to pick it up, but immediately replaces it by another. It is, no donbt, owing to tnis fadthat he is reported to constantly have a dozan or more glasses about his p9rson in case of emergency, although it is said that they have no magnifying qualities, being cut by the gross from plain window papes. Young Onativia's top hats are as bright as a new trade dollar, while his patent-leather boots reflect the brilliancy of his sunny smile. His mackintosh, with wide flowing sleeves, is indeed a thing of beauty, and his white Melton top-aoat is simply superb. It is said that the dashing Brazilian has over fifty pairs of trousers and fully as many waistcoats, and his valet is responsible for the statement that he has five trunks of new clothes on the way over from London.

Onativia is accredited with spending some $40,000 a year on his own sweet self, in view of which it is only natural that he should like to change his trousers twelve times a day, in order to prevent them from getting out of style. His equipages are as celebrated as his clothes, and this is not to be wondered at when it is known that he has a coach and four, a brougham, a T cart, and a tilbury. He is also a fameus rider, and is the proud owner of some of the finest thoroughbred hunters in the country. He is well-dressed at all times, but it is In the evening that he looks his best. Then he blossoms forth in full evening dress, with immaculate shirt-front and a stud of priceless value. His shapely hands are encased in white kid gloves, with black stitches, and a boutonniere of lilies-of-the-valley nestles in the Japel of his coat. His trousers are invariably creased down the middle with care and an opera-hat crowns his classic head. With a glass stuck firmly in his off hand eye and an " I'm-monarch-of all-I-survey" expression in his right optic he presents a tout ensemble that the original Beau Brummel could not approach in his palmiest days.

Mr Onativia first introduced the style of wearing a striped sash about the waist last summer, and it is no doubt due to Mb example that the male portion of the noble four hundred followed suit.

He has two very pretty sisters, and the Misses Onativia are justly celebrated for their great beauty and retiring manner. Miss Pauline Onativia is a stately brunette, while her sister, Georgina, who is to wed Mr Townsend at an early date, is a typical southern beauty, with lustrous eyes and a wealth of jet black hair.
