Birch (on behalf of the National Mortgage and Agency Company of N.Z., Ltd.) reports on the markets for week ending 10th May, as follows : No change of importance has to be reported, and values remain about on a par with that of last week. Shipments from the Bluff have been exceptionally heavy, and we are afraid that this will tend to depress the Australian markets to a still further degree.

Wheat.—The weak tono of the Australian and Home markets has given our local one a drooping tendency, and transactions this week bare not been numerous. We quote as follows :—Prime milling qunlitios, 3s lid to in per bushel; ordinary, 3s 9d to 3.4 lOd, delivered in town, sacks weighed in. Good fwmples of fowlfl' wheat are saleable at 2s 6.1 to 2s 8d delivered, sacks weighed in. Oats.—Oar market continues quiet but transactions hare l>een fairly numerous at quotations which are:~Milling, 2s 4d to 2s lljd por bushel; feed, 2s 3d to 2s 4d, on trucks at country station,*, sacks weighed in.

Mitchell, Whitp, and Co. report having held their regular fortnightly stock sale at th« Inveroarjjil! sale yards on Tuesday, 7ih in^t, when the yards we»e filled with sheep, and a good number of cattle were forward. The weather wns very wet, and sheep looked miserable. Price*, however, for all young Bound sheep were quite np to Into quotations. A frtw lines of store sheep were turned out nn-old, and a few pens of fat cattle, otherwise the yards were well cleared. Following am a few of the leading liner sold by us, and prices realised, viz.:—

Sheep.—2oo erosubred wethers and store?, from 10a 3d to 10s 7d each; 63 fat ewes atd wethers, 10s Id; 71 ewjs, 10a 6d; 138 stoie wethers, 10a 4d; 105 do, lis 6<l; 98 2-tooth do, 10s; 42 fat ewes, 10a 2d ; 2!) fat wethers, 13s 2d (top price); and cull ewes in large numbers, 3s fid to 7s each

Cattle.—We sold bullocks at up to £6 15s for medium, and d«wn to £5 10s. Cows and heifers, £4 to £4 10s; and store rattle at late rates. Figs, small, from 6s 6d to 25s each.

Sorse Market shows a slight improvement, and we hope to see a brisk demand within the next few weeks, as ploughing starts. We have a nnmher of good young norneß coming forward for our sale on Saturday. We would direct attention to nur country Stock sales as now advertised, viz.:—Thornbu'T, on Wednesday, 11th inst.; and Wairio, on Wednesday, 22nd inst. Particulars now advertised. 4. DUNEDIN MARKETS. P:it Cattle.—Competition for best quality watt well maintained, and au advance on last week'* quotations may be recorded, secondary lines changing owners at firm but unaltered rates. Best bullocks sold at £7 5s to £lO 7s 6d; medium, £4 10s to £6 15s; cows and hoifors, £3 17s 6d to £5 7s 6d. Fat Sheep.—The quality of the sheep forward was first-class, anything approaching inferior lines being au ozecption to the rule. Good lines of " baconers" sold at from 40s to 56« ; extra prime, 60s to 68a ; porkers, 28s 6d to 345; stores, 14s to 235; suckers, 5s 6d to 10s 3d. PRODUCE MAKKBT. Wheat.—Prime Tuscan, up to 4s 2d ; velvet and red straw, 3s 8d to 4s Id; medium, 3s 5d to 3s 7d ; fowls' wheat, 2s fid to 3s 3.1. Oats.—Prime milling, 2s 7jd to 2s 83; heavy short bright feed. 2s 6d to 2s 7d; inferior and discolored, 2s 4d to 2s 5Jd.
