BIG FIRE IN INVERCARGILL.

Yesterday at 11.30 a.m. it was discovered that a fire had broken out in Messrs Fleming and Gilkinsun’s flour mill, and before the flames were got under at 1 p.m. serious damage had been done. Most of the wooden portion of the structure facing Tyne street was destroyed, and although the engine and boiler were comparatively uninjured, most of the other machinery has been rendered useless. Besides this 40 tons of flour and from 800 to 1000 sacks wheat have been greatly injured. The damage is estimated at £3OOO. The total insurance on mill and plant is £4OOO.
