Commercial.

J. R. Mills & Co., auctioneers, Riverton, report: —At the regular monthly stock sale at Thombury, on tho 3rd inst., there was a good attendance and a fair average amount of stock .forward, over 2000 sheep and 140 head cattle being yarded. Tho improved prices ruling at the recent sales for fat wethers and good young sheep were fully maintained, one pen of prime fat wethers from Mr J. W. Hamilton's flock realising top price, lis 6d each. We sold 1200 sheep and 80 head cattle at the following prices: Sheop: 40 fat wethers at lis 6d, 100 crossbred ewes at 6s sd, 145 do at 6s 3d, 62 do at 7s 7d, 180 do (old) at 3s 9d, 109 lambs at 7s, 218 do at 6s, 347 do (small), at 3s Bd. Cattle: 11 bullocks at £6 15s, 9 steers at £4 10s, 7 do at £3 ss, 5 do at £3 12s, 13 head mixed at £2 9s, 20 cows and heifers at from £2 15s to £3 7s 6d per head, and 15 yearlings from £1 2s to £1 5s each.

DTJNEDIN MARKETS. Bubnside, Juno 9. Fat Cattle.—Therfe was a full market to-day, 261 being yarded. A tew pens were prime, the rest medium down to little better than stores. Bidding was very slack, prices all through ruling 10s to 20a per head below last week °a few pein having to bo turned out unsold.' Bullocks fetched £3 7s 6d to £9 10s; cows, £2 15s to £7 17s 6d. Fat sheep.—A largo supply to hand to-day, comprising 350 merino wethers in fair condition and 2425 crossbreds, fully half of which were in prime order. Bidding for best pens was fairly brisk at about last week's quotations middling and inferior sorts a s >ade lower' Best crossbreds sold at Ss to 11a 6d ; others,. 5s 3d to 7s 9d ; merino wethers, 5s to 7s 6d. Fat Lambs.—4lo were penned, mostly inferior quality ; prices were low, and ranged from 2s 6d to 7s 3d. Sheepskins.—A large catalogue of green skins for Monday's sale, at which there was a full attendance of buyers. Prices all through the sale were about equal to those of last week. Crossbreds sold at Is to 3s 4d ; merinos, 9d to 2s lid; lambs, 2s to 2s 9d ; pelts, 2:V to lid. Rabbitskins.—A few lots were offered for Monday's sale. Good winter well-furred skins are wanted, and fetch lOd to 13d; medium, 5u to9Vd; inferior and suckers, Id to 4id.

Hides.—There are buyers for all offering at recent quotations. Tallow.—The market is quite bare, with several orders to fill up. There has been a decided move in prices for the better. Prime mutton is worth £l7 to £18; medium and inferior, £l2 to £ls; rough fat, 9s. Grain.—Wheat: Arrivals for the past week have been below the average, and as millers are anxious to buy, anything offering is quickly taken up. Prune parcels command most attention, and are firm at the following quotations:—Tuscan, 4s to 4s 2d; velvet, 3s lOd to 4s Id; other fair milling sorts, 3s 9d to 4s; inferior milling, 3s 7d to 3s 8d; fowls wheat, 2s lid to 3s 6d, according to quality. Oats: Shippers and millers have bought lavgely during the last few days, and with vessels ready to load, all available are moving off quickly. Short bright sorts have become, scarce, so that buyers have turned their attention more to other grades. Wo quote fine milling 2s Id to 2s 2d; short blight feed, 2s to 2s Id ; useful short feed, Is lOd to Is Hid; inferior, Is (3d to Is 9d. Some superior lines of seed oats have been taken up at 2s 9d to 2s lOd. Barley: There is very little business being done beyond milling and feod, which may be quoted at 2s 3d to 2s 9d. Potatoes.—The market here is overstocked with Derwents, and as there is little chance of any exporting at the low rates ruling at outside ports, prices here are giving way. We quote 55s to 60s per ton.

Melbourne, June 10. The local manager of the National Mortgage and Agency Co. of New Zealand, Limited, reports upon the Melbourne market as follows:—Shipping wheat is quieter at 5s 4d to 5s od per bushel. Malting barley is quiet at 3s 9d to 4s 3d. New Zealand feed oats are improving, and are worth 3s to 3s id; milling sorts are in good demand ; New Zealand oats, under bond, 2s 6d to 2s Bd.
