AN APOLOGY.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir.—ln your issue of 30th ultimo a letter, headed "Correction," appears with roferenco to my notes regarding the Chinese church, wherein I stated that it had been opened some four years ago, and that Divine worship had been held in it only once or twice since being built. As to the first part of my remarks, I sincerely apologise for having made such a grave and almost unpardonable error. I find that the time is nearly three instead of four years. Mr Don states also very correctly that it has been opened every week, " though service has only been held some 30 or 40 times." Where I Certainly it has been opened every week, but surely Mr Don does not for a moment mean to say that Divine service has b n en hold ! r the church some 30 or 40 times ? I i a-,, jjujjlo here are all blind, myself included, r.s the Chinamen that live within a few yards of the church inform me that what I stated is quite correet—that service has not been held in it except on some two or three occasions since being opened. In conclusion, allow me to respectfully inform Mr Don that it was not with the intention of misrepresenting or deteriorating from the merit he is so justly entitled to as an indefatigable worker in the good cause that he has bo nobly undertaken that I referred at all to the church. My sympa' hies aro entirely with him, knowing the difficulties he has had to contend with in endeavoring to gather together such a heathenish flock for the purpose of Christianising them. Apologising for taking up so much of your space, but felt it due to myself as also to Mr Don to explain matters as they certainly exist.—l am, &c, Round Hilh Correspondent.
