“Hough on Eats,”—Clears out rats, mice, roaches, Hies, ants, bed-bugs, beetles, insects, skunks, jack-rabbits, gophers. 7|d- Duggists. Kempthorne, Prosser & Co., agents, Christchurch. The Canton correspondent of the Hongkong Daily Press writes; —•“ The evacuation of Tonquin by the Chinese troops has, I understand, been completed so far as tlie regular army is concerned, but the Black Flags have not yet withdrawn. A telegram was received the other day from Loongchau by the authorities here which stated that the soldiers of Liu Jungfu, tiie redoubtable Black Flag leader, cannot reach Kwangsi before the 20tb August, at which date be expects to cross the border. When these troops arrive they are to be stationed at Sn Ngan-bein for the defence of the frontier. The traffic in flesh and blood must be remunerative, for it is attended with considerable risk.” A Lovely Chaplet.—A late fashion report says: “Nothing can be pre ! tier than a chaplet of hop vines in blossom.” A recent medical review says: “Nothing can bo a better renovator of the health than American Hop Bitters. They aid in all the operations of nature ; toning up the stomach, assisting the food to become properly assimilated, and promote healthy action in all the organs. The dictates of fashion, as well as the laws of health, alike favor a right application of hops.” Head. Mothers Don’t Know.—How many children are punished for being uncouth, wilfuland indifferent to instructions or reward, simply because they are out of health! An intelligent lady said of a child of this kind : “ Mother don’t know that she should give the little one moderate doses of American Co.’s Hop Bitters for two or three weeks, and the child would be all a parent could desire.” Ho.v to gel well.—Which is answered in three words—Take American Go’s Hop Bitters !
