EXTRAORDINARY BIGAMY CASE.

George Humphries and his wife Maria, aged resprctively 41 and 42 years, keep a common lodgitg-Louse in one of the slums. For some time past a navvy, employed on the new Scai borough and Whitby Eailway line, has lodged at the house, and become very friendly with Mrs Humphries, " and one morning they appeared before the registrar and were married by special license. The police having ■1: received information of the affair, procured a warrant, and Detective Inspector Johnson apprehended the woman. When he entered the house Mrs Humphries was seated on the knee of the new husband pinning a flower in his c®at. In the meantime her first husband was on his knees in the same room “clearing up” the fireside, apparently unconcerned of what - had taken place. The woman was taken to the police office, and the affair having got wind the neighbors assembled in great force yelling and hooting, beatimg pan lids, blowing glin whistles, and otherwise annoyine the two men who were in the bouse. Ultimately the new husband became so exasperated that be rushed into the street, and was shortly afterwards locked up for creating a disturbance. — London “Telegraph.”
