John E.yera, jeweller, was arrested on a charge of breaking and entering the premises of Hart and Levy, pawn brokers, in June 1834, and stealing; therefrom, jewellery, &c, valued at £125. The discovery was made in a singular manner.

At the Appeal Court to-day the case of Searle and another v. New Zealand Insurance Co. was called on. The action was one in which plaintiffs sued defendant Insurance Co. on a policy of insurance on goods shipped by a French vessel from Oamaru to Capetown. A. nonsuit was entered by the presiding judge, and the appeal now was against that decision. After argument their Honors reserved judgment.
At the inquest on the body of Timothv Doile, the victim of the boat accident, a verdict of found dead was returned. Deceased had a brother in Napier and a sister in Christchurch.
