Customs Revenue for the week ending sth Dec., 1884 :

o DUNEDIN MARKETS. Buenside, Wednesday. Eat. Cattle.—243 head yarded. A small proportion only prime. Eor medium and inferior the biddings were languid, while for first quality competition was brisk. Messrs Weight, Stbhehson and Co. sold 104 head as under : 7 bullocks at from £Blos to £9lss, r- and 5 cows at from £7 15s to £9 7s fid; 15 „ bullocks at from £6 10s to £8 ss, and 6 cows at from £5 17s fid to £7 12s fid; 24 prime w steers at from £8 to £9 15s; 18 extra prime cows at from £8 to £lO 10s; 12 bullocks at , .from £8 10s to £lO 17s fid; 17 head chiefly ’ cows at up to £7 7s fid; and quote prime beef ‘:22s fid per 1001 b. Eat Calves.—Fourteen penned, and sold up to 80s. Eat Sheep.—l69B penned. Of these 285 merinos, and of the whole only 250 were in the wool. The quality good to prime. ' While the demand was fairly good, no improvement could be noted on last week s prices. Best crossbreds in wool brought from 19s to 20sdo shorn, 16s to 18s fid; merinos in wool, •13s to 14s 3d; do shorn, 8s to 13s. Eat Lambs. —495 penned, and sold at from 8s to 11s fid. Store Pig?.—Sixty penned, and sold at from , 15s to 60s. Store Cattle—Eeed has been so backward that until recently there have been no transactions to note, although enquiries have been frequent. Grass is now, however, showing up in abundance, and well Bred stores promise r.to be in good demand. Store sheep.—Pending shearing transactions are not likely to he of any moment. Inquiries are made for both crossbreds and merinos, but simply as feelers to test the future market. Wheat.—Absolutely nothing doing. Prices have a decided downward tendency, and sellers have to concede from 2d to 3d per bushel on previous rates to effect sales. Prime milling is worth 3s 4d to 3s fid ; medium, 2s 9d to 3s 3d ; fowl feed, Is fid 2s 2d. Oats.—The tone of the market completely changed. Speculation, which was brisk lor 'some time past, has subsided, and only prime parcels fetch anything near former rates. Best milling, 2s 7d ; medium, 2s 2d to 2s sd; inferior, 2s. _ , Barley. —No inquiries for mailing ; feed is worth from Is 9d to 2s 3d.

Potatoes. — Donald Reid and Co. report market for Derwents over, but new kidneys in brisk request at £8 to £lO per ton.
